Strutless Kites?!

Post by Bulldog » Wed May 08, 2013 12:06 pm

Anyone else seen these reviews? I guess Naish just came out with a strutless kite; a new kite company was the first. Both are getting pretty good reviews.

Still doesn't solve the issue of travelling with a board, but makes packing the kites alot easier.

It says 10M, but it's really a 9.

Would have been cool for TKB to include a picture of the kite packed up.

I know there's a guy at Crissy Field who uses a Boardriding Maui Cloud. Maybe he's around these boards and can show us a pic of it all packed up.

I can say that I used to use the Airush One, one strut and the 12m packed down smaller than a Vegas 9m (with battens). I'd imagine the strutless kites would have a similar fit.

funny as you bring it up right now as I am traveling with my stuff and actually kite is only one part of the pain. For me its rather the boards, pump, harness, helmet, impact vest, that limit my pack size and not the kite. Just pack what fits your need and not pick a kite just for the travel to realize that there is a lot of other stuff to pack as well.

I think it looks great.

What my travel kit is missing is a really great folding and/or breakdown board

Anybody know of any?

Yeah Bowen rides those at Crissy from Maui Waveriders and he loves them I flew it and its super sweet A lot of power for the size and when sheeted in it flies perfectly but when you sheet out it flutters a bit but is fine.

weight is the issue when traveling, not the size. I can travel with 3 kites, a TT, harness, impact vest, wetsuit and towel in a 140 bag and keep it under 50lbs. and Still have more room. Traveling with a directional is another issue

Cool. Looks like a simple and elegant design. And less stuff to break :)

Extreme Big Air in San Louis Obispo sells both of these brands. They're spendy! ;-)
