Changes to wind stations?

Post by jwest21 » Wed Apr 17, 2013 5:50 pm

Anyone who's got a windalert/ikitesurf account notice lots of strange behavior at Point Blunt and Berkeley?

Berkeley was registering single digits while Alameda was blasting, now it seems they've upgraded the station to report more frequently. Point Blunt used to be the windiest place on the bay, but now it barely gets to the teens.

I also noticed 3rd Avenue Channel updated later in the night to more frequent readings than it had soon after my session.

Uggh! I need to spend less time at work drooling at wind readings and more time on the water.

I say its just some seasonal weirdness. Inner bay looked flater so headed to alameda for variable 15-21 today. Not a normal inner bay pattern today. Either that or they're all f'd from the 40+ gusts last weekend.

I was attributing the funky Berkeley sensor to the north direction. Figured the land of the marina blocked the wind from the sensor.
