North Bay isn't so bad... check out Dillon, Stinson, and Ocean beach. As the season progresses the east bay (Marina Bay, Racetrack, Berkeley, etc) will start to fire constantly 5 days a week. Depending on where you are in the North Bay there are a few local spots that fire on SW days... and of course Crissy. Have fun getting adjusted to the water quality.

Thanks for the replies! And yes, I am gonna have to get used to the cold water!
I'm living in Vallejo, I know, I know, why Vallejo?? Going to school here for a few years, then it's back to Oahu. I haven't bought a wetsuit yet, seems like the water is in the 50s year around....thinking of a 4/3 but wasn't sure if I could get away with a 3/2. I've only ever had a wetsuit for diving, any suggestions on brands or thicknesses
I would go with the 4/3 mate ... 3/2 for you is probably going to feel really cold
Wetsuit brands typically range in fit success depending on body type because of different waist : chest ratios, shoulder cuts & varying fit through legs / seat... size for size between brands. The best idea would be to get out to some shops and give a couple different makes a go
I am also hoping Chris gets on this thread as he can give you the scoop on Benicia which could be a good spot for you locally
Welcome to the Bay
Thanks so much for the info! I'm stoked to get in the water soon! Missing the warm but gotta get used to the cold
Not baggin on the north bay at all! It's just not Hawaii!!
that's an understatement
