Hi all. Work is sending me to Dana Point at the beginning of May. I extended my flight an extra day. Is there any riding down there? Could bring my kites!!

My brother and i rocked out to Damon (not Dana oops) Point a few years ago, its an isolated little bay west of Tacoma WA right? We went in February and it was probably the coldest kiting I have ever done. The place rips with wind and is a gorgeous drive through the wooded Washington country passing nuke plants on the way. Its similar to Humboldt bay near eureka and Arcata... The beauty of the spot is that it works on any wind direction. If it goes offshore you kite inside the bay in butter goodness, if its side/side on you can kite in the surf or behind the breakwalls near the jetty. I've heard the surf can be really fun. Get on the PSKite forum out of Seattle those guys will tell you wassup,...

EDIT: that would be damon point (its a sick kiting area check it out)

Grew up dinghy racing in SoCal - so I know it well. I have seen the occasional kite at Salt Creek but I don't think it's recommended. The closest viable place to kite is Huntington Beach - which is just north of Newport Beach. (About 30-40 min North up the PCH).

Having enough wind is your biggest challenge, especially with a small window. Seems like most of the kiters in the OC are opportunistic.
