In all fairness NOAA was forecasting "BREEZY" all week for Tomales and Bodega while Godsy snuck in and predicted light teens and NAILED it... =D>

NOAA seems to be a little more conservative for the small craft advisory and probably doesn't even know wtf Waddel is... I'm starting to believe Waddel is the windiest (days per year) venue in California.

Because it is. That spot is magical.
I think people who ride waddell on a regular basis get depressed when they get less than 4 days of riding per week even in the fall/winter.
I'm pretty sure I even saw a unicorn crossing the road there one day.

It's never been blowing more than 18 knots on average at sherman all morning and that's what ikitesurf predicted.
So why do they predict in knots and there sensors are in mph? i have had i kite a long time, its more for senors than forcasts for me, i think they read nws and do forcast, dont alot of ikite weather people forcast from the Gorge?

sloughslut,

I think you can change what unit their sensors display in settings, if you log in. At least you can in windalert (which takes the same data from ikite)

18knts = 20.714mph it was blowing 21mph avarage :think:

Since the forecast is in knots, the wind speed in mph is irrelevant.

Sherman this morning (in knots) and the forecast (in knots as well).

My windalert.com profile is set in knots. iKitesurf doesn't seem to have a default. You can switch the realtime display to knots, but when I click on the "show me this station on windalert.com" link I go to windalert with the display back to mph..... Not a huge deal most of the time, except for those marginal days when you read 12 mph as knots and then wonder why there wasn't quite enough wind.
