A-B-C for Safety
Alameda Bodydragging Competition for Safety's Sake
Format:
This would be a staggered start, timed course race. Clock starts when the kiterís feet enter the water with kite in air, stops when kiterís feet leave the water with kite in hand.
Racers are staggered for safety, lots of distance between each racer. Of course unsafe action like dropping the kite to close to the beach or others, or not following standard sailing rules, would result in disqualification.
Every rider must take a board. (but can't ride it)
Every rider must be able to walk to the waterís edge. (without a ìhold-downî)
Course:
Begin by body dragging out and rounding the leeward side of the downwind 200 ft. marker.
Continue body dragging upwind and round the windward side of the upwind 500 ft. marker to port.
Pass the windward side of the upwind 200 ft. marker.
Come back towards the beach. Drop your kite in the water, self rescue; come out of the water with kite in hand.
Registration:
Registration will take place the day of the competition.
Five dollars for each timed run
Prizes:
Winner take all Cash Prizes (optional donations to the Alameda Kite Community* will be facilitated)
Dakine Harnesses for the first place male & female.
Participant Gifts:
Could include:
Magazines, stickers, chance at additional prizes from Dakine, SBC Kiteboard Magazine, PASA, Cabrinha, North, and Slingshot.
* proceeds donated to improve safety & awareness at the beach will go to compensation (such as parking passes) for the volunteer beach stewards.
