New Dog Shower at Crissy Field

Post by Tony Soprano » Sun Jan 27, 2013 7:53 pm

The SFBA has donated funds to the National Park Service at the GGNRA Crissy Field to build a dog shower which is now completed. This was done to give dog owners an alternative to breaking the law by bringing there dog into the people shower.

Dogs must be on leash in parking lots and picnic areas.

Awesome! A yellow, brown and black, cool pic...

On another note, when will SFBA do anything at places other than Crissy and sporadically (years ago - nets and water, which may not function anymore) at 3rd? I pay my SFBA dues, and have done so, on and off, but in about a decade of kiting, have not directly, as a result of where I typically ride, experienced any benefit. In recent years, I've seen very little action and on the SFBA website, (which has seen an update after many years, congratulations) the only updates mentioned that refer to East Bay happenings are either directly related to windsurfing or mention developments at Albany Bulb/Race Track, which are simply news items taken from BAK that the SFBA, in fact, has nothing to do with, other than one or two members showing up at a meeting for.

If my contributions do nothing more than fund an improvement at the SFBA's sole pet sailing site, Crissy, and it is of all things, a dog shower, I do not think I will renew. "Done to give dog owners an alternative to breaking the law" As an alternative to what? Using a different and available outdoor source of water? What does it have to do with windsurfing or kiting? I want more legal singletrack where I mountain bike, can the SFBA take care of that too? Subscription cancelled...

I am just a volunteer site steward for SFBA, not a board member.

The Dog shower money wil be payed back from a seperate donation drive this summer with hand outs to dog people at Crissy.

SFBA contact billrobberson@sfba.org and they have a FB page
https://www.facebook.com/#!/SFBA?fref=ts

I did here the SFBA negotiated $350,000 from a developer to be used by SFBA for site improvement at coyote/3rd.

Fair enough. But the concept of a dog shower funded by SFBA is questionable.

Perhaps the SFBA should be called PCBA - Peninsula/Crissy Boardsailing Association.

seems to me if you want improvements at a specific site you need an advocate at that site. In the case of crissy and 3rd there are a handful of vocal advocates. All SFBA can do is attempt to facilitate the conversation with the parties involved and maybe add a few $$ to the project.
