Mavericks is on!

so we are looking at big wave surfing for this Sunday.

They are throwing a party at the Oceano Hotel & Spa at Princeton Harbor, however, I was wondering if anyone was paddling out to watch the action live. Is that even an option? Can you go around the huge breaking swell?

Otherwise, anybody got a boat? ^^

I don't have a boat but if it's windy enough you could kite out there.

SC are you on it????? kidding, just kidding........

I'm betting they sort of discourage folks from paddling out during the contest........

Ha! I figure that if I can't surf it I probably shouldn't kite it either. :-)

Ron - I would discourage you from going down there as you probably aren't going to see much more than a dot if you don't have a boat and then you will still need Navy Binoculars. Hey go for it though and let post how it turns out.

$200 to $400 for a seat on a boat...ridiculous. Looks like i'm gonna watch it on-line. Where are you people watching, if at all?

Are you serious about paddling out?? I don't know how much game you have, but that is like saying "yeah, I'll just climb K2 to watch those Japanese push for the summit".....it is one of the biggest, baddest waves around....and this swell is going to have a little extra juice to it....

....again, I don't mean to question your surf game in any way....just be sure to pay big respect...look @ the names of the peeps who are paddling out....

...I'm personally not much into watching....I'll be looking to find a spot where it's not nuking so that I can surf myself

"yeah, I'll just climb K2 to watch those Japanese push for the summit"

"; funny comparison

I won't paddle this Sunday to see Mavs anyway but i was out surfing at half-moon and kiting OB last weekend. So I know it's big (and even way bigger at Mavs) but you don't have to paddle into Mavs, do you? I saw on the official websites that people (not the pros) are doing it so I wanted to test the water on this forum.

More comparison please, that was funny, haha =D>

The big winner during the live feed is GoPro.
