I wanted to post a discussion about local forecasts and hopefully have people chime in about what may be going off during the off season. I know we all look at the weather reports and the BAK is a perfect platform to share some real time forecasting.

Maybe its the wrong approach.... thoughts? .02c

I like it... ikitesurf's computer forecasts don't always do the trick in the off-season so a discussion here seems like a great way to go! Even so, I'm guessing I'll be doing more reading than contributing, but hopefully the wind-savvy folks can help a bit!

I use wind alert animated forecast to get an idea of what's coming up.
Then ikitesurf computer tables to narrow things down.
And finally windguru to check the gfs, Nam and wram of the spots with possible wind.

I pretty much use the marine NOAA forecast.

10-20knt If you feel like chasing
15-25knt Maybe worth the drive, but watch the sensor
20-30knt Its on, block out the schedule

I find this more reliable for winter forecasting than summer because its mostly winter storms that make the wind, and I pretty much only ride the coastal spots. SE direction on the coastal forecast is usually pretty valid for Alameda and marina bay as well.

So you launch at Marina Bay in Storm winds? I've launched at the racetrack inbetween squalls but never tried Marina Bay. SE is best?

That spot doesn't exist.
