Air density is higher on the coast so 25-30 will feel different than 25-30 at 3rd

They're talking about the channel sensor - normally the wind closer to shore will be significantly lower.

A kite size lower maybe? My experience is pretty consistent with Marinkiter - if the channel is 25 with gusts to 30, then I would downsize from 12m to 9m. That's at 190lbs on a twintip.

Hmmmmm. I gotta see the math on that.

Yeah, I keep hearing this air density <=> temperature <=> power correlation too, sounds dubious. I'm sure there's a difference, I just can't imagine that it's very noticeable @ 25knots between 80 degree vs. 60 degree weather.

Any Bill Nye's wanna prove me wrong?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Density_of_air

Over a range of 60 degrees C (or 108 degrees F) there is only a 24% change in the density of dry air. So the 20 degree F change you refer to would imply about a 4% change in air density.

Negligible.

I must say that cold air always feels more punchy to me. But maybe it's because it happens at the coast and I think about GW.

The gust sensor at 3rd is actually the avg wind speed. Average it with the channel sensor.

That sounds like a good advice Keith.
I usually rig one size up from what the channel is blowing since I stay around the lower launch.
