Same here. I shoot straight for the beach when it's cleared out.

What about going OUT from the lower launch? Tons of good tips here about how to make it in - sounds like the consensus is make sure the coast is clear, get super speed, and aim for either downwind edge or beach or go right by the rocky point with the flag.

But how do you get out from the lower launch beach? Seems like there's no wind at all under you get past the edge of the golf course.

lol. so true. dues to be paid there for sure. i remember the first time i ever tried it i dropped my kite right after launching and sheepishly limped back to the beach asking for a second launch. dude looked at me and said simply: "no rookies allowed"

thats pretty much the best advice for learning to kite or learning about a new spot to ride at. See others do it and if they succeed or fail.

The wind shadow at the lower launch might be the only thing that stands in between it being an awesome/convenient beach vs. a complete kookfest

Everytime I ride at third and look up to the upper launch, I love that wind shadow.
Had the water all to myself at coyote today.
