Have always resisted wearing a helmet cause I thought they looked goofy. Got this a couple of days ago when I lost my board in the waves and the waves kindly returned my board to me. There was blood all over my head, had to cut the session short. Very thankful to the EMT, Larry, and the Nurse, Karen that patched me up until I could get to the emergency room.

Holy cow. Glad you're ok. I think I should jump on the bandwagon too. What are peoples thought for brands that are comfortable AND cool? :)

You really need to try them on. I cant use protec helments. The medium is too small and the large is too big. They just dont fit my head right. I use a mystic helmet. No idea if it is cool or not.paolo wrote:Holy cow. Glad you're ok. I think I should jump on the bandwagon too. What are peoples thought for brands that are comfortable AND cool? :)

Wow, something to think about. Sometimes in a hard crash when my board comes off I throw my arms and hands up around my face and head in protective fashion. The helmet's good for your head, but your face can get jacked in all kinds of ways too...

I'm a fan of the Gath. Fits my head well and I think also protects my eardrums when I crash...fairly often I'm afraid.

Re: Gonna start wearing a helmet
You can not swim if you are knocked unconscious...a helmet is a good idea.
Protec discontinued making water specific helmets, the wake skate, two face etc are gone, only a few left.
Gath helmets only the Gedi model provides impact protection
the Gath sport hat does not offer impact protection.
The Mystic is ok
Bern is ok, but get there water use specific models.

Re: Gonna start wearing a helmet
I wear a helmet at third and Sherman and OB.
At low tide, when crashing, the ground comes pretty fast.
