On-the-water adjustments

Post by Sander » Sun Jul 31, 2005 7:46 pm

I am wondering what folks do when something needs adjusting on the water.

For instance, I often want to cinch my harness tighter once I've been out for a while, but this is hard to do on the fly and not really feasible when there is a pull on the harness.

What works for you? Do you intentionally land kite on water? Other ideas for taking a time-out without coming back to shore?

Thanks,
Sander

Veer downwind on your board, hold your kite high, sheet in, thrust your hip forward and pull the adjustment straps hard in a quick motion and it should do it.

Also, to avoid any on-the-fly adjustments to your harness, it helps to soak it and get it plenty wet before hitting the water....

I used the method of stop in the water, put kite at zenith, then grab chicken loop and tighten. Worked great!
Thanks!
