2011 Slingshot Rally Owners - Heads Up:

Post by WindMuch » Thu Oct 27, 2011 3:43 pm

Hi All,

Just off the phone with Chris Schey (shymac on BAK) from Slingshot. He asked that I forward this information on to 2011 Rally owners.

If you own a 2011 Rally (the first year they were introduced), check the material near the area where the lines attach at the wingtips. On some kites, they're seeing wear at the point where the rear lines touch the wingtips. Here's a totally extreme case from a kite (probably a school kite) which has Zillions of hours on it:

I just looked at my 4 kites (flown quite a bit this season) and I only see one even showing the slightest bit of wear.

Slingshot fixed this completely with a beefed up rubber scuff guard at the wingtip area on the 2012 Rallys, and has developed a stick-on patch kit for the 2011's.

Chris is sending me a package with a bunch of the "Dacron Scuff Guard" kits. If you need one for your Rally(s), let me know and we'll figure out a way to get them to you.

You can also call Slingshot directly at 1-509-427-4950 or fill out their warranty form here http://tinyurl.com/slingshotwarranty

Oh yeah, here's a .jpg with install instructions:

Kirk out

P.S. I have no affiliation with Slingshot - just spreading the word as a (really happy) Rally owner.

Are you getting paid for all these "shot outs"?

No, you should know by now that almost no one in kiteboarding gets paid! He's just getting the word out for a minor Version 1.0 bug fix and direct-support fix from SS...
