I know the BoarderCross candidates -- the ones who smile or hoot when you cross paths, instead of scowling or making waving motions "get the hell away from tack!'

Ooops. Should have read "... from my tack."

Hey, every max flood day at SI is Boarder Cross, as far as I can tell...

dude there is some serious shit that goes on at the shelf drop off on a flood tide, like serious weird shit with the mud down there, i'd actually be very interested to dive down and see what its like.

Last time i was helping sandy take out the big pumpernickels(haha just made that name up), the thing was being ripped backwards into the channel at an UNREAL rate, so incredibly fast. I tried stopping it but it was ripping my arm sockets out and pulling the ski back. it ended up taking both of us pulling on it to get enough slack to loop it on the back of the ski, we then towed it up the shelf to where it went slack.

Wierd down there. You'd think with a flood it would displace silt on the anchor and at most bring the thing toward us.

I cant think of a scenario to why the thing was dragging backwards, almost like it was "sliding down the shelf", but the rope was a constant length.

Ollie,
Was there an implicit weather forecast in that "just for the food..." comment? Like you don't think there will be any wind?
