If I'm reading the forecast correctly, looks like good SW winds for saturday and sunday for Mt. Rose. Anyone interested, or can confirm the forecast?

We are going to shoot for grass lake. Look for a Vegas and wainman kites if you make it down that way instead.

yeah, grass lake looks good too from what I can see, but i'll be staying in north tahoe so i might not make the drive down.

does anyone if SW is a good direction for mt rose? looking at the map, it looks like it would be going up through the valley, which is good, unless it has too much west in it.

Here you go. MT Rose is Best on SW. Grass valley is no good on a SW.

Today was VERY windy at mt rose. Unfortunately I had only brought my 13m and after 15 min of riding solo and way overpowered I had to bail. Looks like sw is indeed the right direction for mt rose, and the noaa forecast was spot on. Pretty gusty.

Tomorrow looks good too, probably a tad lighter. I'd say its worth it, but bring ur whole quiver. Unfortunately I wont be able to make it.

Snow is ok, perfect coverage and not frozen towards the afternoon

Me and a buddy hit Tahoe Meadows (aka Mt Rose Meadows) yesterday around 2:30 in the afternoon and the wind was VERY gusty & shifty and the snow SUCKED!!! Actually the crappy wind could have been somewhat managed, but the snow was so firm and bumpy from sastrugi formation that I could not edge and control my board during the gusts. In addition when I got up to speed my eyeballs started to bounce around so much that I could barely see where I was going. We were on 7 & 8m kites and kited for about 5-10 minutes and then called it quits. Then we went and scoped out Prosser which looked pretty good, but the wind was not blowing down there. ](*,)

I strongly disagree. That was the worst snow conditions that I've ever encountered kiting there; however, the snow coverage is excellent.

My bad :) It was actually better than my (only) previous experience there, where it was completely frozen and extremely bumpy.

It's supposed to snow up there this week, so hopefully things will get better soon.
