I'm in Florida doing my winter tour. It's GREAT! Windy the last 4 days consecutive. 6 to go.
Huge beaches, shallow lagoons, waves, friendly people.
So far, I've kited Tampa Skyway, Indian rocks, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne....today, off to Ft. Pierce, then Jupiter, Pompano, Keys, Miami and finally Naples.
I love Florida.
-Dave
p.s. I'll post a video in about a week from all the stops.

Can you point a newbie in the right direction? Where do you go? What do you need? (skills/gear)rvv wrote:Snow-Kiting in Tahoe...come on freshies :banana-skier: :banana-skier:

Heading to Kailua in early January hoping for a few days of good wind. It is a family trip more than a kiting trip but we'll be a black off the beach and my gear is going with so I'll just hope for the best :)

I leave next week to go to Maui for two weeks. Will enjoy X-mas at home in San Francisco, looking for fresh snow around Tahoe. Januray 6-10 Utah backcountry snowboard trip (Weber Valley). January 12th-26th La Ventana. February I will focus on Northern California mountains and snow. Will also do a repeat of last year and go to Camas Valley in Idaho for epic snowkiting trip. When March rolls we head to Sierra's or Central Coast depending on how I feel and what I am looking for......

I had a Saturday to kill while in Orlando. Saw that winds were good in Cocoa Beach, visited 321 Kiteboarding and met Brett who suggested i go see Romann at the 520 Slick a few blocks away. Very shallow with no waves. There, Romann hooked me up with a 13m demo kite. A nice laid back vibe on the beach. It was the most fun I've had in Florida!

I had a blast in Costa Rica, staying with the Cometa Copal school in Bahia Salinas. I was there for 12 days. Winds were blowing everyday, generally from 6am to 3pm with strongest wind at 9am. Two of the days were marginal with an 11m kite. One day was 7m or less. The rest were 9m kite.

Nice pic of Costa Rica, I had fun there in January '05, do you know if much has changed there?
