Ride in a San Francisco Bay Downwinder with Chase Boat Support & Photographer!
The North Team is in town & Kite Wind Surf is hosting a Crissy to Berkeley Downwinder on Saturday, May 14th.
Weíll load up the full size luxury coach with up to 40 riders & their gear in Alameda at 1:00 pm; drive to Crissy Field for the launch; and tear it up on the water with chase boat support all the way to Berkeley!
Be sure to save some energy for an Expression Session near the Berkeley Pier from 4-5. There will be videographer & photographer on location to catch all the action!
The Bus will leave Berkeley at 6 pm and return to Alameda for the after-party. The bus will continue directly to Crissy Field to drop off anyone who leaves their car there.

Yes, not sure what it's doing in this one, but I'll just go ahead and move it.
My only question is, can we arrange for a pickup on the way to Crissy at Berkeley? I'd just as soon avoid a trip to Alameda and back to catch the bus if I don't need to. I'd just as soon head out from B-Town. If this can't be arranged, perhaps a few of us will bypass the bus and join in starting at Crissy, but I'd prefer getting on the bus!
Also, for everyone heading down to Berkeley, be sure to read up on all the guidelines and info here:

Not sure what the tide will be, but keep in mind that at times, there can be almost no beach at all! If there is a tide borderin on the high side, everyone's cooperation will be needed to maintain safety and keep the landing area clear.
When you come in, immediately roll up your lines and move your kite to the derigging area. Unattended kites need to be weighed down! Remember, all it takes is one incident. With potentially a large amount of kiters coming in to land, it's important that everyone do it right.
Thanks in advance! O:)

i am very interested in doing this downwinder, but have never kited at berkeley, and am not sure what the trek is like from crissy to berkeley. what i have done is kite at crissy several times (both last season and this season), and several downwinders at sherman.
given that there is boat support in case anything goes awry, this sounds like it could be a lot of fun, but wanted to get feedback from those of you who did the last crissy to berkeley downwinder re: whether an intermediate-level kiter should be attempting this?

Downwinder
So should we start a list of who is going?
What's the plan if there's no wind?
Suggested Kite Sizes?
Can you demo a North Kite for the Downwinder?
Inquiring minds want to know!!
