Takoon Bankruptcy

Post by OliverG » Thu Jun 03, 2004 5:27 am

Takoon International has apparently filed bankruptcy, more info in this link:

Despite the growth kiteboarding has been enjoying, it's still a small market with many players. It will be interesting to see how things play out by the years end. Of course, this particular instance could be the result of many things - bad management, poor sales, excessive spending, etc.

Where do you think the kite industry is headed?

Here's the simple answer: like any mature business, there will be three (or so) major players and the rest will fight for the small piece of pie that remains. I don't think Takoon was one of the favored few so...

As far as numbers go, I can guess at the top three. Anybody know for sure who they are based on real sales figures? No-margin kite sales don't count!
Go bigga'

Hmm, would they currently be Naish, Slingshot and Cabrinha? Based on market penetration and sales to date?
