I heart Alameda

Post by Z4Kiter » Mon Apr 18, 2005 8:18 pm

I heard 3rd was blowin' in the 20's, so decided to go to my first session at Alameda this year. The vibe was great and love the sand. Tide started too low, but filled in nicely afterwards.

Alameda was fun yesterday, I was well-powered and often overpowered on a 14 the whole time, a 12 would have been better. It's amazing how the NW wind flow will hit Alameda in the late afternoon and it'll pick up so fast.

Nice session, but the double sesh at Sherman wore me out. Have you ever kited but felt like, "Man, I'm kind of sore and tired.", but kept kiting anyway? Who needs Tai Bo, just kite all the time...

people were getting picked up 10 ft in ze air on 8m at 3rd yesterday
4 out of 5 had to release their kite ; a kite riped in the air in the flag position while the guy was realling his lines and another( I am not sure how it happens?kite leash broke or no kite leash) lost his 6m kite and it went to the lower part of the on-ramp of the San Mateo Bridge and over somewhere far!!! I hope we are not going to hear this morning someone got decapitated in Foster city by a runaway kite!!!
I am glad I was lagging to get ready so I actually didn`t have to experience any of that Mayhen !!!
It was a sad scene!!!
Hope today brings us some mellower wind !!!!

Ollie - know exactly how you feel my brother. You need some time off to let the muscles + hands heal up.....I felt that way yesterday, 3 days of coast kiting took it's toll....poor me, I know.....

Good winds + waves, Zeev.
