Bay Area Water temperature

Post by andrea italy » Thu Jun 26, 2008 8:44 am

Hy, I'm coming in S. Francisco next October for two months, can you tell me if in that period I need a drysuit or a wetsuit 5-3mm? How is the water?
thanks everybody!

The water temp in the Bay is about 50-55 degrees F year round so this is what you can expect in October. The water temp on the coast is a bit colder. A 4/3 is good for most people. Boots and an underlayer provide extra warmth for longer sessions. 5/3 is also good.
Unfortunately the wind dies off in October in the Bay. If you like riding waves the fall can be really exciting because the surf gets big. The windy days are not consistent in the fall but the good ones are really good!!
Enjoy your trip!

Andrea,
Welcome to the Bay Area, you may be doing a little more searching at that point in the year.
Give me a call, I'd be happy to take you out for a session, if your up for it.
