Anyone ride Stinson in storm winds

Post by Unhooked » Fri Mar 18, 2005 11:26 am

I know most folks reading this forum head to Alameda during storms....I'm interested in something new and fun....anyone every ride Stinson Beach on Storm winds?

Anyone want to try a new place?

Most storms hit the coast better then the bay from a wind pt. of view....

what do you think? Here is what it looks like now.....http://www.webresult.com/shark/sharkqt.html

Good winds, Zeev.

PS - stinso is not a "wave" spot. The waves are beach break, similar to Alaemeda. The water is cleaner.

I would head over with you but last time I tried, it was such a pain to get there. It is a tough call when Alameda is right outside my door. Do you have a fast way to get there. Driving through the city is shity!! You dig?

It takes about 1:15 to get there....no shortcuts. I think it's going to blow better there.....we will see....

Best way to get there from the East Bay is over the San Rafael bridge to 101 South. You can take the Blithdale exit and go into Mill Valley and up and over Mt Tam, or continue on 101 South and look for the Stinson Beach exit signs. From East Bay it's usually an hour or so.

Guys,
Stinson is not such a good spot to ride during storms.
The break is messed up and the waves all over the place.
I live a few mins away from there.
There are some better, and unfortunately further north spots closer to Bodega that are worth checking out.

Also, Pillar Pt. is awesome during southerlies.
