There is a whole world out there for riding.

A great kiteboarding destination
has just become even better ... Key West
.

Image
THE KITEHOUSE has introduced an exciting new concept to kiteboarding off this lively ... Riding the Island Flats.*
WARM, knee deep water in all directions, RIDEABLE wind from all directions and no beaches to run into.
And, then there is the WIND.

Lots more info and photos about the riding and Key West at:

Back in the 70's and 80's you might have seen a whole herd of Jamaican Lambs or perhaps a loaf adrift? Times change as do the ways of transporting contraband. When drug smuggling was a cottage mom and pop industry and later when more organized folks focused on boat transport there was a fair amount of stoner flotsum off of Florida. I kind of lost touch with what went on in that area when Miami Vice went into syndication.

Still, the riding is mighy fine even if the square groupers are out of season. Just add wind ...

So you're saying that it's not possible to pick up some keys floating in the Keys anymore?

I suspect it is still possible it just isn't a regular thing like it once was. I can recall seeing guys wandering down the beach fairly often when I was in high school picking through the sargassum weed on the beach and sticking stuff in baggies. Well, at least they got a nice iodine supplement if not a buzz.,
