Crissy surely needs heightened attention! The view is great, but many other factors that make it less than perfect. I would think a lot of people who kite there do so because they live in the city, it's closest for them and traffic is a hassle to go elsewhere. The East Bay is pretty sweet having between 6-8 launches depending on conditions anywhere from 10-40 minutes away. Nothing beats the view at Crissy, though!

I still had a good time!! It was my first time kiting at Crissy. Even though I haven't been kiting for a while and it was cold, it wasn't that bad at all! After all, I did come back safely! Thanks Charlie and Ollie for encouraging me to go there and kite and all great kiters at Crissy gave me advice! I just wish I wasn't the only girl at Crissy. Where are girls? I want to kite with girls.

South Tower is a wind shadow - Typical Crissy no matter where the wind comes from.
Glad to hear you guys got some. 6 more weeks to go!
Can't wait.

S tower

Is a good place to:
1. Get your ass kicked
2. Mess up all your wind gear
3. Ride a sick left wave

The shadow there is always crazy, unless the wind is NW and going off - like in the spring. I've windwufred that wave a few times, and it's sick. Will not go too deep w/a kite, as we don't do lulls to zero very well.

Good wind + waves, Z.

PS - Charlie, this is where most of the girls can be found....watching surfers ;-)

I don't know Yoko, I guess you're more core than some of the others. Maybe they're holding out for better wind and/or warmer temps? :?:
Maybe you can lead them by your example. O:)

Words of wisdom from good 'ol Al-Kite-A:

"FYI to all non-Crissy locals ñ The GG towers always shadows the wind. Never cut below them. During the season, west wind, you cannot cut below Ft. Point. There is a reason why that water is glass. "

Only posted as an FYI. Good thing for everyone to commit to memory.

Ya I think I preety much proved the point the hard way. I should have known better. Thinking back now I can't believe I tried it but when your in the moment it is different. I can't say I will ever forget the moment I kited under the golden gate bridge. That's for sure. :|

You should join the Crissy crew on a W wind, where things work a little different, so you can say that you kited outside the GG Bridge (and back).
Just let us know when (April - Oct)
