Berkeley Guidelines revisted....

Post by narly1 » Sat May 12, 2007 8:50 am

The other day a bunch of us kiters were out at btown
it got holie and shifty inside...
so one guy lands at frontage road beach
witch is 80 feet from the slow lane of HY 80...
that was bad, if that continues thats the begining of the end of kiteing at pt joLLy.
the guild is kite in hand when you hit sand, that means self rescue in the shallow waters just off the beach.
he landed to a windsurfer down there ...
then he sets back up and has the windsurfer launch him ? ...!!

BIG NO-NO! 80 feet putys a kite right on the freeway
when the holes come in

Roll up and walk the 4 blocks back to the pt emery launch.
B-town is a world class sailing spot
act acrodingly.

So is the rumor true that someone once got lofted the whole way over into aquatic park? Sounds like BS to me. Talk about Frogger.

Sorry, Charlie.

Whoever landed on the beach obviously has never read this forum before. Maybe it was the guy a few years back who recommended launching from the I-80 beach on north wind days.

i kited gg fields bay on a north once, launched from cesar chavez park
maybe a no,no but it was a ghost town,i think i was the 25-30kts.
kinda gusty as you would expect, but fun, cold, power lines downwind
kite accordingly i.e;stay 2-300m away,low voltage though.
that water in aquatic park is nasty, good frisby-golf spot.
