New Google "My Maps" Feature Request

Post by average_male » Thu Apr 05, 2007 1:56 pm

Google has a new feature for allowing web-based custom map legends to be created and shared. I was wondering if anyone plans on putting together a one of these maps, indexing each kiteboarding spot in the Bay Area.

I have seen other web pages with this idea in place with static descriptions, images and texted directions to get there.

Would be a great resource for kiters.

Web URL:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... ,75.410156

I'd do it, but I don't know all the locations and I am too lazy to put it together.

[Sorry, I posted this in the wrong section.]

it does look pretty cool. the only thing is that it'd be nice if everyone could edit it. almost like a wikipedia entry. that way one person isn't responsible for updating the info.

yeah, something like

but kiting-specific.

Exactly Flip.

Perhaps the admin for this site could put that together.
Anonymous User editing would also be a great feature.

Although it's not quite what you're looking for, but someone pointed out on the forum a few weeks back the new Dynamic Map Google mashup on ikitesurf. Pretty cool in the "Hybrid" mode with satellite overlay. Zoom into 3rd and you can see a couple of kites at the launch.

Nice! Seems it will be just a matter of time before the whole bay area will be mapped for current wind conditions and kiting locations.

Thanks M.Fremont
