Waves off the charts
The swell is huge right now (21 ft, 17 sec) but forecast to get even bigger in a few days
Watch as it goes off the color scale (white) at the end of the week.
That kinda energy could come through the gate if the angle is right.!

The shallowness of the bay is what kills the swell.
I've seen big ocean swell (not ebb-induced) out from Crissy.
Alcatraz and Angel Island might be doable if the angle is right.
Still, I believe if the swell is humongous, the angle is right, tide is right, then some energy could reach Berkeley.
In fact, some of the liveaboards at the Marina have told me that during the last Mavericks contest the boats were rocking all night (I don't think there was a wild party involved).
