Hey everybody,

I just moved to San Francisco from Ithaca, NY and have been itching to get on the water. I have two problems:

i. Lack of knowledge of the local area (except of course, the monster that is Crissy Field - I'm staying away for a while).
ii. No wheels.

I live in the city so I would guess that Ocean Beach is an option. I have not had much experience kiting in the ocean so any tips much appreciated. I work at Burlingame (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... 77076&z=14), so it's pretty close to 3rd ave. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I maybe able to spend some time on the water this Fall (or do you guys just call it Summer?) please do speak. If anyone wants a kite buddy then I am more than willing to hop on during the weekend. Let's see what you'll have to say.

Cheers,

Job

Haha...I didn't take any offense whatsoever. In fact, now that I see the irony, it's hilarious :) I just happen to have religious parents. I look forward to seeing you on the water.

Go see Sonny at 3rd. He'll point you in the right direction.

Being car-less can be tough when you need to carry equipment around. Depending on your location, this could be a good solution for now:

I used the Zip cars for over a year--it was great. You can rent by the hour. They are parked strategically throughout the city--you reserve online, then just go to the car, swipe a card to get in, and drive away.

Good luck!

Please write your exact location and some quick way to contact you - probably somebody is going to go to Sherman Island/3rd ave on weekend and may pick you up.

You may also consider using public transportation to go to 3rd ave.

But most probably you have to get BART/Caltrain to SamTrans connection. Also it`s possible to use bicycle to drive from Caltrain to 3rd Ave spot

I live in the Mission on 21st and Bryant. The quickest way to contact me is to call me at 607-229-4837. Otherwise, email works too.

I was considering the bike option as work is located pretty close to 3rd ave. But that would mean committing myself to kite at 3rd ave. by leaving all my gear at the office.
