Lost '11 North X-Ride 129 board, 3rd Ave., 04/05On Tuesday got separated from my board in a lull dealing with lines when my kite went down
Re: Lost '11 North X-Ride 129 board, 3rd Ave., 04/05I saw a board upside-down on the rocks close to the flag at the bend in the bike path. It was white and looked like a directional. This would've been around 4:30 or so. It sat there, being ignored, for quite some time.
Re: Lost '11 North X-Ride 129 board, 3rd Ave., 04/05Thanks Nick but this must have been a different board - mine has intersecting colored stripes (green, teal, orange, black) but very little white, with large green fins.
Re: Lost '11 North X-Ride 129 board, 3rd Ave., 04/05Yeah, I Googled the board after posting and it's about as different as you can get.
I feel your pain---I almost lost mine yesterday and my heart was sinking as I saw my $750 board floating away. I've heard quite a few stories about found and returned boards--hope yours is one of them!
Re: Lost '11 North X-Ride 129 board, 3rd Ave., 04/05actually those couple of floating boards weren't ignored, but they were inside a big hole, in general offshore conditions; most people who usually provide board retrieval service at 3rd were caught underpowered, fighting for life in the ~4pm shutdown on the inside.
(I, for one, on a 10m and twin-tip, wind was so offshore and dead inside that I had to tack out almost to Coyote channel marker to make it back to the upper launch dry.) Board I tried to get but was too underpowered had yellow underbelly, I think someone eventually brought it in to lower launch, definitely was gone by time I went back out (on surfboard), by 4:45-5:00. Quick thoughts: if wind is really dead, it sometimes pay to just swim upwind to the board, even against the kite. Plan B is wrap lines and climb inside the kite on your belly, use arms to swim back to board w/ the kite as a raft.

Baypirate, just to clarify, what I meant was that the board was ignored *after* it had been rescued and was resting safely on the rocks. Yesterday was a rough day--the intentions and efforts of our local good Samaritans, even when unsuccessful, are always appreciated!
Re: Lost '11 North X-Ride 129 board, 3rd Ave., 04/05Thanks Nick and Alex - I will keep my fingers crossed for an eventual reunion with the board~Mark
Re: Lost '11 North X-Ride 129 board, 3rd Ave., 04/05Happy ending!! Board recovered from ranger at Coyote Hills Park which is just north of the east end of the Dumbarton Bridge!!! He said it had come all the way down, went part way UP a creek
