Lost 2016 Roca, Bar, and Board @ Ocean Beach Monday 10/24

Post by chrisjames415 » Tue Oct 25, 2016 1:47 pm

Hey Guys,

I got into a hairy situation at OB close to the north shore rocks and had to eject my kite and board.

Blue and Red 2016 Roca, Yellow Best Board, 52cm red and black bar.

So far only Poseidon has claimed my gear, but I'm hoping that he is generous and that one of you will find it again soon. Serious $$$ reward. Please call or text me at 415-686-5037.

Not to make you feel bad, but why were you and your friends (or the 3 or so other kiters) launching on the north side of the beach. the wind was super gusty and coming from the south blowing side/offshore. It seems like you guys were asking for it. the decision to go out and not have that much space downwind on a day like yesterday seemed SO risky. I'm really glad you made it out alright.

What's OB like on stormy south winds?

No its OK i definitely deserve it. And as you can tell, I've certainly learned my lesson. Needed much more space and more experience to tackle the double black diamond that is OB. If anyone sees my gear please give me a call 415-686-5037.

It's awesome when It's not double over head or more, which sadly is often the case in the winter.
You should do the opposite than the OP and launch from sloat, not from Kelly's cove. Can be a super fun downwinder from sloat to the beach chalet though...
Be safe out there in the winter, when in doubt, don't go out...
