Heading up to Oregon... Help

I'm heading up to the OR coast for a wedding near Seaside. I was planning to head north and check out the Gorge area since I'll be so close. What's a good resource for getting info to all of the cool spots. I'm not that strong of a wave surfer yet, but I'm willing to try if I can find a good spot. I'd prefer kiting something that's more like SI. The Sand Bar sounds like it would be good.

I was thinking of contacting one of the local kite shops and see if I could tag along with them. I was also going to post on NWK and see if I could befriend some locals. Can anyone on here give me some good feedback? Thanks!
