South Padre Island - late Jan/early Feb

My withdrawal is getting pretty bad - was looking for quick fix and I may be able to take a long weekend off Jan 29 - Feb 2nd. Does anybody know how (un)reliable South Padre Island is that time of the year. I understand that Dec-Jan are the least reliable part of the season there. Sonny was big on SPI if I remember.

I checked the ikitesurf archives, looks like for 3 days only it's kind of a crapshoot.

For the record, statistically I'm due for some (stretch-season) justice. Spent 5 days in Maui over TxGv, only got 45' on the water on last day on the way to the airport (on an iffy SW breeze, over an even iffier reef at low tide at Kihei Sunset). Then over Xmas out of 4 days in New Orleans (okay, no Kite Beach but still) I got another hour of stroking a 15m after a 2 hr roundtrip drive to the MS coast (btw, great beginner place - miles of wide beach with shallow water and silky-sand bottom).

Thanks and Happy, Windy New Year!
