Fishboardmike,
Feel free to call me 650-906-0502. We were there last year for a week and I kited ever day. We're leaving Wednesday for Kauai too.

I'm staying in Kauai in September on Tunnels. Kited there many years ago before I had any real skill. This time, I hope it rocks because I'm ready.

Jason, have you been there around that time?

Haven't been there in September, sorry. Last year I was on my 12 most of the time. There's an amazing beach called "mahalepu" in Poipu. You go past the Grand Hyatt, and continue on the dirt road for a few miles. It's beautiful! I also kited near Tunnels and Anini. Saw some huge (I mean HUGE) sea turtles that scared the crap out of me. Not too many kiters in Kauai and definitely no shops. Make sure you bring all your gear and I'd recommend bringing some stuff for repairs (bladders tape, rip stop tape, etc.).

If it's not windy, there's tons to do there.

You say Kailua, HI, are you talking Kailua-Kona, HI, or Kailua, Oahu? I'll assume the latter, cause there's no kiting at the former. Solid Trades this time of year, should be good. Easy launch site at Kailua Beach park - but once out, head down wind to Castles (due West) where there is some decent wave riding, or straight outside at JumpCity; big rollers, not much shape but fun nonetheless. Or, you if there is good enough windswell, there can be waves off Flat Island which is upwind from Kailua Beachpark.

Der, I'm a moron. Kauai vs Kailua. Apparently I need a new prescription. Pls disregard!

No waves on Kauai in the summer.

Bring a medium-big kite, the wind blows about 15-20.
