Baja Pacific Wave Camps / Spring 2016

Post by Kyle » Sat Jan 23, 2016 6:53 pm

While El Norte is still blowing strong, our friends at Exotikite are already preparing for the steady NW wind and waves that come to the other side of the Peninsula starting in the spring. Read on for more details and dates from Megan!

"This is the 3rd year we will be offering Pacific Kitesurfing Wave camps. We travel to a remote little village approximately 500 miles north of the Cabo airport. Most people will fly into Loreto, which is only 4 hours from the town. We pick the students up and drive them to our little paradise. Our tours are all inclusive including accommodation, 2 meals and 1 snack a day, boat assistance to the break, and lessons. The stay is 7 nights 6 days.

Typically the wind doesnt pick up until about 1 or 2pm and it blows until sunset. Mornings are lazy, great for yoga, standup paddleboarding, beach combing, reading and relaxing. Once the wind starts to pick up we load up the boat and head out to the sand bar. Before we rig up we give a brief talk about how the waves sets up. Then we rig up and talk about what we are going to work on for the day. For beginning wave riders it is where to sit on the wave, how to get through the break and how to use the kite to "slash". More advanced riders will be working on tacks, jumps and getting deeper into the pocket.

The waves are easy, the break is gentle and it is a huge sand bay. Learning to wave ride there will absolutely increase your skills and confidence.

After the session, the cabanas have hot showers and the restaurant has cold beer. The restaurant on site offering fresh oysters, abalone, lobster, scallops and fish. We also head into town at least one of the nights to sight see and try the different hot dog and taco vendors set up in front of their homes."
