Tulum in early March

Post by joemount2004 » Wed Oct 03, 2012 8:28 am

I havent seen any fresh info on Tulum on here in a while, so starting this new thread. I'm headed to Tulum in early March for a wedding and as luck would have it it looks like wind is pretty decent down there that time of year. Has anyone been there?

Recommendations on where to stay?
Rent gear vs bring my own?
Tidbits?

Thanks!

I was in Tulum in January this year. There were a couple of days of decent wind but March is meant to be better.
El Paraiso was the main kiting spot. Nice long beach, flat water out to the reef and then good waves past the reef. I brought my own gear but there is a kite school there too so I'm sure you can rent there.
I was there with 2 young kids so we stayed at Dreams which is a $10 cab ride from El Paraiso. I also kited off the beach at Dreams one time which was OK but the reef is really high there, especially at low tide, so El Paraiso was much better.
