Kiteboarding Destination Data

Post by Red_Element_Andy » Thu May 09, 2013 10:46 am

Hey Guys,

I'm about to take two months off before grad school, and would like to hit up the top spanish-speaking kiteboarding spots before moving to barren Chicago, IL. :p

Does anyone know if there is a pre-existing data-sheet that has kiteboarding locations and kite-days-per month (%)? I normally backpack, but as a kiter I want to make sure that if I'm lugging all this gear, that I actually have pretty good probability of getting in the water 4-5 days a week.

If there's not an existing tool, I was thinking of building a google doc and pulling in data from windguru.

Windalert has a pretty great database of average days per month a certain site reaches 15, 20, or 25 mph. You can also view a complete history of any station's wind graph to get a precise idea of the time it picks up and how gusty it is within a period.

This picture is Alameda's statistical analysis.
