Only similarity really is the 'lace up'.
Big difference is the way it attaches to the plate and board. The footstrap part attaches to the pad part independently of the screw making it super easy to install. No pressure on the screw. The footstrap attaches to the footbed with 5" long velcro on each corner that hangs down and goes through 4 slots in the footbed and then comes together underfoot in a triple-overlay velcro like a surf leash. This is the 'patent-worthy' part. Nobody's ever done it in wake, kite, snow, or anything.
You can see the 3 holes in the photo where the screw goes in the plate, then into the board. It's as easy as screwing a wakeboard boot on a board, but still on 6" centers....not 8" like a wakeboard plate.
One other big difference with the Hybrid-Lace-Up is the fact that we use velcro between the inner/cushy layer and the outer/lace-up layer. This lets you vary the size from mens 9-13 and also lock it in place so that the inner does not move around while you're in it or entering it.
I'll show you at the party.
