Chrissy Field and Flood Tide

I have been kiting about 4 times at Chrissy, right near my house. I have always been out in slack or Light Ebb, just after slack tide. I have seen many kites struggling to stay upwind in light wind and a flood tide.

However, I saw 2-3 yesterday that were having a great time. I didnt go out, but I was curious about the flood tides there. Seems pretty strong at 2.51 knots today. Anyone going out, or care to elaborate on the flood tides at chrissy? I understand the ebb tides pretty well, and the "Chair Lift" or the danger at being sent to faralon.

I am an intermediate kiter: Very comfortable launching / landing, sefl resueing, swimming, turns both directions (heelside and toeside), and starting to go bigger on the jumps.

Thanks in advance to the locals, who have been really friendly there.

Looks like during flood kites arnt making it very far upwind, but still having a good time. Will give it a go tmrw, instead of sitting at work late.

I made it all the way to the bridge today on a moderate flood.. A bit more work but doable

If your new to kiting Crissy try to avoid kiting during a flood unless your upwind skills are excellent.

The inside shutdown can become very dramatic in a flood!
