It's full-blown rocky, sketchy rip-rap covered in slimy plant life. Expert only. It's been done. But no one should really be thinking this is a safe launch site at this time.

Launched there a few times myself as its only a 10 minute drive from where I live and miss all traffic.

Definitely not a safe launch area, rocky. I swim out, drift launch, ride. When its time to land, I self rescue and drift/swim back to land. Self rescue can be a bit of a pain as well because of Navigation structures, buoys, and current.

Can't wait for the launch to be finished.

Here's a page from the city planning web site.

This could become a viable alternative launch to Sherman. It is actually the same driving time from Davis (according to Google maps), and that assumes no drawbridge delays or the never-ending construction delays on Hwy 12 when going to Sherman.
We did an upwinder from Sherman to see how the kiting was there, and it was similar, with good wind in the channel and decent swell on an ebb tide.

Does anyone know if there are wind meters hooked up to ikite near or at this new location? In other words, how will I know if it's blowing here?

Its a free sensor managed by the Marina, Pittsburg sensor.

Nice to have a new launch soon. Even with the new launch, I would probably say that this is still an expert only launch as the new landing is the only viable spot to launch and land unless we convince the city to create a clearing near the bird sanctuary island.

I guess the bird sanctuary can be an emergency spot, but you will have to swim your gear back to Pittsburg. I have done this before, but it might now become an issue with bird watchers as there will be future incidents of this happening on a regular basis.

Ah, Pittsburg sensor do not show up on classic Ikitesurf, but will show up on the new interface. Shows up okay on their iPhone.

Due to the discovery of nesting snowy plovers on Brown's Island there will be no emergency exits there!

Ramp is finally ready for this summer season. Better than before since we now have a little bit of access. Unfortunately, it is still sketchy as hell: a)Rocks, b)Hidden hazards embedded under water, c)Don't hit the channel markers on your way out, d)Tight entry and exit point. Definitely an advanced spot.
