Bay Area Snowkiters Social

Hi All,

I'm new to the bay area this year, and am keen to met some local snow kiters who head up to Tahoe on a regular basis.

I want to get an idea of how many locals regularly kite up there (or anywhere accessible out of SF really) and organize a social drink during the week to say hi and see if there's a few people to head out with on the weekends.

I was thinking Wednesday December 1st somewhere in the city, who would be interested?

Cheers,
Seb

I would be in - but it seems like there are just not that many snow kiters on this forum. I'm dead set on snow kiting this season - but need info on where/when is good to go.

You and me both mate. Long time snowboarder and kiter - it just seems like a logical step now that I'm in the area.

If you're in the city, I'm free most weeknights and this weekend if we want to set up a time. We can just then see if anyone shows up? A post on kiteforum.com might also help.

Want to PM me with some suggestions of place/time?

Logical - yes. In the bay area - not so much.
The closest snow area is Tahoe, and its not that great for snow kiting. Unless you live there and can get out in half an hour notice, then IMO its not worth the drive from San Francisco/Peninsula.

You see many kiters in the bay area fly to Utah, when Tahoe is three hours drive. Ever asked yourself why :) ?

Have social plans developed? It would be good to meet some folks and learn what's going on in the area snow-kiting-wise.

Take Southwest to Boise. You can be in Camas Valley by 10:30 in the morning. Closer and cheaper than Skyline, and they don't have any funny alcohol rules.

Very consistent wind.

Old thinking,
pretty much the same liquor laws in Utah, as anywhere now days...

Does Utah get consistent winds as well? I was thinking of booking a long weekend flight sometimes in Feb. Would I fly into Salt Lake City?

I guess I answered my own question:

Anybody interested in planning a trip there sometimes next year? Flights seem to be around $260 now for next Feb.

Anyone interested in a 2011 snow kite meetup/social?

I'll be in south lake Tahoe weekends this winter with hopes to get kiting as much as the wind allows.
