Who's Snowkiting???

Post by Yoda » Wed Nov 15, 2006 8:36 pm

I just wanted to get an idea how many CA kiters are going to be hitting the Sierra slopes with their kites this season.

I'd also like to know where you like to snowkite (in the Sierras)... favorite spots.

I'll tell you from personal experience that kiting in the Sierra's can be fun, however, if you don't live there, it's hard to score. That being said, all of my snowkite sessions last year took place in Utah, as they will this year as well.

Jeff Kafka, with Wind OVer Water Kiteboarding is running his second year of Skyline Snowkite trips in Utah. They run from Dec. through March. Check them out at WowKite Snow

I have found that you can actually be snowkiting in Utah in less time from SF than heading to the Sierras...no joke.

Hay Yoda Buddy,,,,

I'm ready to go, just need snowwwwww

As I have a pass for Sierra again this year I hope to find some place to kite near Hwy. 50 / South Shore...

Anybody also have a pass for Sierra and want to hook up and get some kite / Snowboard time if it works out?

I know there is kiteing near Kirkwood but anyone know about something closer to Sierra / Hwy 50 ?
I'm not opposed to drive to Meyers or hit something on the South Shore...

Well, if you want to hook up give me a call,,, we now have a pretty good "phone chain" going so usuially we can get a few kiters together with short notice if it looks like it will blow plus I need all the support I can get as I have never snow kited.

I would be up for making a trip after the first of the year. Do you have a foil or are you going to use your Sonic? Wade
