Snowkiting in Idaho

Post by Scanman » Thu Jan 19, 2006 12:38 pm

Just got back from a fun long weekend in Sun Valley Idaho. Got to do some kite snowboarding on the way from Boise to Sun Valley on Saturday. The area is called Camas Prairie, it's just miles and miles of farm land right off the Highway!
I only brought my 6m Samurai (no harness), so after riding unhook, fully powered for about an hour and a half I was beat! (I need to do more pullups)
It was a blast though, boarding in two feet of powder! I got out just before the storm came in.

You can fly the Samurai on a harness. If you bought it with a bar, its pretty automatic. If you bought it with handles, it works fine too, but safety is mostly your quick reflexes. The cool thing with the handles is that you can lock the kite on the edge and cruise hands-of, at least with most handle types.

That picture looks so sweet, I am totally jealous. That Sam is a nice ride too.

Thanks Elli,
I just didn't bring my harness, I have the harness loop on the bar but I don't usually hook in when I'm landboarding, a little scary in gusty winds with no depower.
