Heads up for Thursday

Looks like Thursday will be another rain and wind event similar to last week's, but forecasts are for wind strength to be lower. 2 ft. of blow in the highlands.

Kite Thursday/Friday, ski/ride on the weekend.

Sadly, the long range forecast for January is dry. Get it while it lasts.

Happy New Year.

Hay Paul,

Are you into Snow Kiteing?
If so, let me know cause I have a pass to Sierra and get up to the snow all the time, I'm always looking for others to share the ride and kite . snowboard.

"As it looks now the front passes the Golden Gate around 4 am and into San Jose
by 6-7 am. The front then begins to weaken and moves across
Monterey/Salinas around 8-9 am. Gusty winds are expected along and
behind the cold front as strong surface high pressure builds in
behind the system along the Oregon coast and couples with 25-35 kts
of north-northwest flow through the boundary layer
. Given current
model forecast this would support an advisory level wind event
Thursday across the Bay and in higher elevations. "

Thanks Rich. I usually hit North Tahoe (Alpine/Squaw) for downhill. We need alot alot more coverage before any snowkiting is going to happen in the Sierra this year.

I hiked up to timberline from Carson Pass Saturday--there was enough snow, probably a 5 foot base. However, the parking lot was dead calm, and the wind above timberline too gusty to ride. In the right wind conditions (maybe with downsloping from the SW peaks). If you try that spot, bring snowshoes on any fresh snow.

Cheers,

Gideon

The 6M is in the car.

I don't think that Bay water is going to do much for my cold, though.

I think this storm is a bust.

Maybe we'll get some clearing winds out of it.

What do I care, I'm too #$%$# sick to kite anyway.
