But I saw on the news that there is a lot of shit in the water from runoff ,
particulary OB and Crissy.

There might literally be shit in the water; with all this rain the sanitation systems can get overwhelmed and send untreated sewage into the water.

I couldn't find any information on Alameda's Crown Beach, but Candlestick is right across the bay from Candlestick.

Thats what I mean, real shit from overflowing sewer systems.

The San francisco system is so old, the strom drains are conected to the sewer system.

Winter kiters! I used to do a lot of sailing and windsurfing in the bay during the winter.

Watch out for debris in the water!!!

I guarantee it's there, you will eventually hit something, so keep a watchful eye out!
