"KiteSim is an 3D interactive simulation of a LEI traction kite, the type of kite most often used for kite surfing. You can use this program to learn how to fly a kite, practice making loops, or try out different water launching techniques without worrying about untangling your strings later. The kite is controlled by the mouse, which moves the on-screen control bar and chicken loop. Other features include kite force, wind speed and kite speed indicators and wind speed and line length controls."

Is it the same sim. that was going around last year. It looks much better if it is. At least someone is productive in the off season.

very cool ... but ... anyone notice, in order to keep flying the kite low (on the right for this example), you must keep the bar pulled to the right.

but, when you are actually out there on the water (or land), and you fly the kite down (let's say 2 o'clock), once you get it there, you need to back off on the bar in order to keep the kite at that low position.

Am I right?
If so, shall we provide this feedback ?

not only back off on the bar but in most cases you have to pull up on the opposite side.

i dont think the program has very accurate gravity effects.

I wrote this sim.
Yep, gravity is a bit light - I felt it flew a bit better and didnt feel like tracking down the root problem.
The bar position is relative to the ground not kite.
