Around 3pm checked out Pt. Iz, GG Fields and Ashby. Ashby was most doable, but due to very gusty winds and NW direction, I didn't go out. I did gear up and self-launch a 12m. Was very gusty with the gusts providing near-lofts. Slippery on wet hard-pack sand with rocks all around. Brought kite down and pulled safety.

The windsurfers were having a ball, but from my standpoint it just wasn't worth it. I had no one to spot me, didn't have my helmet, the gusts were sketchy, and heavy gusts upon setting out may have pulled me off edge downwind into the rocks, so why risk it?

Charlie, you were right!

Pinole was good!

Joel and I gave Pinole a try. It doen't seem like a great spot but today it was the place to be. The wind was mid teens. It ws a bit up and down but not gusty at all. I was on a 14M which was perfect. It was one of the most pleasant days I have had on the water!

I don't think we will see similar conditions very often but it is nice to have a place that can work in northish winds.

I was hoping to check out some others rippin' it but there was just 3 windsurfers. I ended up flying my trainer for an hour or so. I don't know how hard it was blowing exactly but it was nice indeed. I did bring some pics to share with the class.

wish you were here.

Blair,

Cool, sounds like you were enjoying the weather today. Might have been an abscence of kiters because of the wind direction. What size trainer do you have? For some reason, the links for the photos are bad, so we can't see them. :(

Ollie, Park at the very end of Tennent Ave(Hwy80->Pinole Valley Rd.-> Tennent). at the small park. The tide was so low that we walked out and set up our gear on the sand/mud flats. It looks like Alameda at low tide with more trash in the mud. I may go there this afternoon. Call me if you want to hook up. 510 772-7162.
