Get Ready

In case anyone hasn't been checking the weather, our first "storm kiting" of the season should start tomorrow night or Thursday. A big low is coming in from the Gulf of Alaska, and they're talking about a knockdown dragout fight between the hot air we've got now and the cold air coming. Temps are gonna drop 15-20 by Thursday night, and the wind could easily get into the 30s in the Delta.

Clear your schedules and bring the small kites; weekend warriors are going to miss out on this one as NNE wind comes in the wake of the low and rules the weekend. Then next week they're talking about chances of sprinkles as another cold one comes through.

Dude,

When you talk it up to much, it decreases the chance of the goods happening, so let's keep it on the QT.....

If you plan to go out in big winds, it's not a bad idea to check pigtails, chicken loop rope, screes on straps, harnesses, all the stuff that can break when under heavy loadz.....

Z,
Why do you think I'm usually Mr. Negative about the wind? I'm surprised to hear you advocate my regular policy of pessisism as a hedge.

Have all the mishaps of your season tilted you towards the glass-half-empty camp?

optimism....

Bulldog,

Interesting question, need to reflect on it.......

Nope, I'm still the optimist......

It'z the time of the year where you either know it's going to blow, cause you had all year to learn some basics, and/or if you are too lazy, you don't get to kite....kind of like earning your turns ;-)

Get some, Z.
