Today I took out the 14m STD for the first time... Initial thoughts .... seems slightly lower aspect and more grunty than the 12m... Not as fast as the 12m...but that is to be expected... Does turn fast when you pull hard on the bar.... bar is longer than the 12m STD bar... not sure how I feel about that yet... Indeed there are battens on the trailing edge... Can't say exactly what they do besides reduce flutter...
Feels grunty and slightly more stable than the 12m... Slightly more bar pressure but not too bad... stopperball is great....
Upwind was fine... Leading edge doesn't seem proportionally larger than the 12m...
Kite seems to be less twitchy than the smaller sizes... makes it easy to fly..
Jumping seems to be floaty and in slow motion.... Still working on technique.... Just about have the 10m dialed in for jumping.... Some were high and floaty.... others were long and shallow... I just need to get used to the timing...
The nice thing about this kite was the range... others went in to change boards or kites.... I just stayed out with the same board and same kite.. (and no... I wasn't on the Glide... I was on a 134cm North Dragon). Depower seems smooth and stable...
A cool trick that will work the the Turbo Diesels is for when you lose your board is to set the stopper ball to where the kite is barely flying and just do the back stroke to get upwind.... Seems to be the easiest way to get the board if it isn't very far away...

Oh man would that be nice, to be able to just backstroke upwind, I'll try it on my xbow, if I sheet it right I should be able to do it. that's awsome.
By the way, when you find the bottom end of the windrange on this kite, please repost. I am very interested in what its like at such low wind.
I want to see you break the 5 mph barrier.
I think you could do it.

If in doubt, do it.

Evan.... I'd love to break the 5mph barrier... but with today's technology, I don't think I am the man to do it..... Maybe you at your 160lbs.... but my 220+ makes me a kitesurfing fattie........ You break the light wind record, and I will break the speed record.... deal?
