pulling the plug on the distro deal is not a final move, it's a step. I agree it's better to reform someone than to cast 'em out, it's just difficult, complicated and probably takes a bunch of different things to happen, not one drastic thing, like a brickbat. No brickbats, please.

Guy's,

I'm as concerned as the next guy about beach access but I believe you are going way too far with this. You are acting like a bunch of drunk skinheads. Have any of you talked to Mark to hear his side of the story? Have you no sense of decency?

Pray for wind, Sam

you know after seeing a lot of people i trust on these boards bash mark, i totally wanted to jump on the bandwagon. But to be honest i can't really think of a time when i kited with mark when he put anyone in danger, so i don't want to be a douche and just blindly go along with it.

so there are a couple possible scenarios.
1. mark makes mistakes(i.e. he's human, and i just happened to never see them).
2. i haven't kited long enough to know who is scotch free and who isn't.
3. mark has recently changed his attitude and his now trying to kill people with his kite.

there are possibly more possibilities but its windy today.........

I have been sitting back, watching the post go on and on,,,

I am a newbe (to kiteing) but have windsurfed for the past 20 years. Sure we have had our share of "Kooks" that indanger others, and maybe there are many more dangers with kiteing (sure there are) but really guys, this whole post kind of scares me... I must agree with Sam...

Is this what I have to look forward to now that I am getting into this new sport?

I am confident there are solutions (or maybe not and this guy is just way over the edge)

Did you guys ever thing of a good ol fashion lynching?

Rich

I think the kiteboarding community AND Mark could benefit
from this issue If he were to come to an understanding that
he has a tendency to ALIENATE people.

It is also unlikely that any effort to accomplish this by banning
him, or riot act readings etc. would accomplish anything.

Somebody who is close to him, and has witnessed these offenses
should invite him out, to sit down and TRY to discuss the issues.
Even better, several people who know him could do it together,
as I think it will be a very hard sell!.

Besides I have more fun kiting WITH other people, I hope you do too!

Greg, this struck me immediately as one of your wisest quotes. You are totally right. Mark was not let go for this reason but because we have a dealer now in SF...live2Kite. I totally agree that we should try to help Mark, however, some of us have (for years) and he is a fighter...does not like to hear it from anyone...a nice enough guy and very enthusiastic but seemingly a bit selfish when it comes to getting sessions.

I like your philosophy Greg.

I think the notion of delivering a smack down or the boot has been tabled, and never seriously considered. Based on where the debate seems to be going, it:

Sounds like it's time to have an Intervention.

Has anyone led the guy to this thread?

I would agree that the most good this thread would do is if he saw it himself. If he reads this there is no way he can say he didn't know at this point. The smack on the hand has been delivered.

It's windy in the Bay and coast today.

(just to mix this thread a bit)
