I know you were wondering...

The missing link: Best's new hire
Best acquires Kiteboarding magazine Editor, Gabe Brown

Only two years after BestKiteboarding.com's disruptive online business model
rocked the action sports world, the company has achieved tremendous success
and is now the leading kiteboarding manufacturer in the world. The company's
content rich Web site merges e-commerce and community of interest features,
allowing for a truly unique and effective approach to marketing and selling
action sports equipment. With added capital and superior product Best was
missing just one thing; someone to front the company's global marketing
efforts.

Best has made plans to deliver real-time entertainment and instruction to
the web, create stock media for commercial use to help expose Kiteboarding
to other markets and create a sense of community amongst riders. In order to
accomplish these new goals, Best needed someone with the qualifications to
lead the charge. The choice was obvious; however, Best's number one
candidate was happy in his current job. Executive Chairman of Best
Kiteboarding, Alex Shogren has never been one to give up easy. "I wanted him
on the team. I've wanted him on the team for a long time. Now that we've
secured our funding, I think he will see the opportunities that we have to
work on a global level and do some really exciting things in this sport."
Well, Alex was right. Kiteboarding magazine Editor, Gabe Brown joined the
team Thursday, March 23rd and flew directly to Utah to join the Best snow
kite crew.

"I learned a lot about the Kiteboarding industry working at the magazine.
Best has provided the financial structure and superior product quality that
will allow me to push this sport to new heights. Best kites are truly
amazing kites at a reasonable price. All the staff at Best are kiteboarders,
stoked on their ability to create gear that they like to ride, and to share
these kites at an affordable price. I'm stoked! In the last two years Best
has created an entire line of kites including the best performance kites in
the Nemesis Pro and Yarga Pro, the best Flat kite on the market in the Waroo
and great traditional Dacron kites in the Yarga. Not to mention that Best
recognizes the future of snowkiting and is the only Kiteboarding company
producing Kite specific snowboards. I am excited at the opportunity to keep
kiteboarders in the loop on a daily basis and to create rich media for the
web. While making magazines is quite fulfilling, time limitations keep me
from delivering information when the riders want it. Joining the Best team
will allow me to deliver content in a fashion that is not only more
appealing to me but more fulfilling to the riders."

Best Kiteboarding CEO, Ian Huschle is excited as well. "We needed someone to
head up our marketing efforts that knew the ins and outs of this industry
and had the all around skills and experience to convey our visions to the
world. Gabe was our man. We just didn't think we could get him. I can't tell
you how excited we are to have him on the team!"

Well, look for big things in the very near future. We are hoping Gabe can
make everyone feel as though they are right here with us living the life and
sharing the stoke. If you would like to contact Gabe for any marketing
needs, feel free to email him at gabe@bestkiteboarding.com

Welcome to the team Gabe!

So you turned them down, Ollie, and Gabe took the job instead?

I shall return from Utah on April 1 and should have a quiver of Yarga Pros, Nemi Pros and Waroos. I have not been a big fan of the bow kites until I got on the Waroo. It rocks in the snow. Can't wait to get them back to the bay. Truly stoked on my new job...can't wait for you guys to try out these kites.

I had to try out the kites before I accepted the job and I was thoroughly impressed. I'm pumped on these kites and I think anyone who gives them a shot will be as well.

More to come....

Congradulations Gabe. I'm glad to hear that you liked the Waroo. I have a 12m waroo on order from live2kite.com and expect to get it next week sometime. What size waroo were you flying in utah and can you give any more details about what you liked, pros, cons, etc.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to have to do all that traveling and kiting in warm places with tons of new kites....

Yeah Ollie that would suck. Poor Gabe.

I guess it's kind of like my job. My house is full of wine and liquor that I have to try on a daily basis. Dream jobs can be rough.

The boys have been riding anything from 7m today to 16m anbd 20m on other days. I have stuck with the 16m for ever day because in the snow I like to be lit...you get big airs that way. With the light bar pressure and the extended depower, I feel like I could ride that 16m in just about anything. Those who know me know that I don't fly big kites. Funny, I think the 16m is my favorite size out here in the snow but I haven't flow any other sizes.

I will post some photos from the snowkite masters today a little later. For now, it's time to get in the hot tub...
